We are seeking a highly motivated Payment Systems Integration Engineer to join our growing team as we expand into new regions and markets. In this role, you will be instrumental in integrating and optimizing payment systems to support our global growth strategy. You’ll work at the core of our fintech platform, helping to deliver secure, seamless, and scalable payment solutions tailored to diverse customer needs across multiple geographies. This is a key opportunity to shape how we build and manage payment infrastructure as we grow internationally. Responsibilities: * Integrate and maintain payment systems and gateways to ensure seamless transaction processing across multiple platforms and regions. * Design and implement secure APIs and services to interface with third-party payment providers and internal systems. * Collaborate with product, engineering, and finance teams to define and implement payment flows and reconciliation processes. * Monitor and troubleshoot payment transaction failures, delays, and discrepancies, ensuring high system availability and fast resolution of issues. * Maintain clear and up-to-date technical documentation for payment integrations, including flow diagrams, API references, and vendor-specific nuances.
Required Skills & Competencies: * Strong proficiency in PHP with hands-on experience using the Laravel framework (or similar) to build and maintain robust backend systems. * Solid understanding of MySQL, including complex queries, indexing, optimization, and data integrity principles. * Experience integrating third-party APIs, especially for payment gateways (e.g., REST, SOAP, JSON-RPC, Webhooks). * Familiarity with different types of payment APIs, such as token-based, session-based, redirect flows, server-to-server, and client-side SDKs. * Ability to read, interpret, and implement complex API documentation efficiently and accurately. * Understanding of web security principles (e.g., encryption, secure token storage, CSRF/XSS prevention, PCI DSS). * Experience working with queue systems, background jobs, and event-driven processing (e.g., Laravel Queues, Redis). * Proficiency in debugging API-related issues, analyzing logs, and resolving real-time transaction or communication failures. * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams (product, engineering, QA, finance) and communicate professionally with external payment service providers. * Strong documentation skills — able to create and maintain clear technical specs and integration guidelines. * Experience in fintech or e-commerce is a plus. * Self-starter with a proactive attitude and the ability to learn new systems, payment providers, and API platforms quickly, as well as analyze competitors’ payment implementations to identify best practices and potential improvements.
