We are currently seeking a Backend Engineer (Python/PHP). In this position, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining data-driven features and services used by aesthetic practices across the US. You will work primarily in Python (70%) and occasionally support or expand legacy features in PHP (30%, Laravel). The core of your work will involve integrating with external APIs and services to extract, transform, and structure data for downstream business applications. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Owners and fellow backend engineers to ensure the reliable delivery of data solutions that power our platform.
Project: We are working on a platform that supports data preparation for aesthetic businesses, enabling personalized insights and advanced analytics. You’ll join a dedicated team that handles various integrations and builds tools to ensure accurate and efficient data delivery to our customers. Responsibilities: * Work on applications and services for extracting and transforming data from various third-party APIs; * Maintain and develop backend logic in Python; * Support and occasionally extend PHP (Laravel-based) features used in data processing; * Ensure data accuracy and integrity across pipelines; * Write and maintain test suites for key services; * Collaborate with teammates and product stakeholders to implement data workflows; * Document API usage and service behavior; * Participate in code reviews and share knowledge within the team.
Skills and Qualifications * 3+ years of professional software development experience; * Proficiency in Python for backend development; * Working knowledge of PHP and Laravel; * Experience integrating with external REST APIs; * Understanding of HTTP and JSON data exchange; * Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (e.g., MongoDB) databases; * Git proficiency and experience with GitHub/GitLab; * English B1; * Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable code; * Team player with good communication skills.
Nice to Have * Experience working with asynchronous Python (e.g., FastAPI, asyncio); * Node.js knowledge is a plus; * Understanding of Docker and containerized environments; * Experience working with authentication flows (OAuth, API keys); * Familiarity with Jira or other issue trackers.
