Responsibilities: * You will play a vital role in collaborating with multiple development teams to design, implement, and maintain applications that meet business requirements * You will develop and optimize backend solutions on AWS, including deploying services on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and leveraging AWS cloud services * You will define technical solutions through our ADR process * Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery * Work with Docker containers for application packaging and deployment * Implement and maintain messaging systems using SQS/SNS * Design, develop, and optimise databases, including NoSQL and SQL databases, for data storage and retrieval * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, and quality assurance, to deliver high-quality software solutions * Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends to contribute to the team's continuous improvement * The team operates within the Agile — SCRUM framework, emphasising flexibility, continuous improvement, and high-impact collaboration. We engage in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, which are foundational to our approach in managing projects and driving innovation
These are some of the key ingredients to the role: * Master the craft of writing high-quality, thoroughly tested code within a large team * Understand the finer points of maintaining an excellent codebase for web and server-side applications * Lead projects, mentor peers, and collaborate effectively. Introduce innovative ideas and develop robust, well-considered code * Adhere to and help refine the team’s standards and processes. Contribute to setting these standards to ensure continuous improvement * Pursue ongoing personal development by learning from teammates and applying this knowledge to benefit the team and enhance the applications * Clearly communicate the technical efforts of your team to other engineering groups * Own the responsibility for your updates from development through to their successful performance in production * Regularly release updates to production environments and oversee these changes to ensure they perform well for users * Play a role in reviewing and approving your team’s code changes once automated tests are passed. Generate and implement creative ideas to improve the applications * Experience owning streams of work, from design to support in production * Mentoring and supporting junior team members
Requirements: * Strong knowledge of C# .NET * Proficiency in AWS cloud services, including experience with EKS, Lambda, RDS, and other relevant services * Strong knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies * Experience with CI/CD using tools like GitHub Actions * Devops skills are a big plus as a lot of work will be in there * Familiarity with API Gateway management and OpenAPI Specs * Prior experience with messaging systems, preferably SQS/SNS * Proficiency in working with both NoSQL (preferably DynamoDB) and SQL databases * Strong problem-solving and debugging skills * Excellent teamwork and communication skills * Familiarity with Agile processes and team structure * Microservice architectures and/or event-driven programming * Strong attention to detail and understanding of when a pragmatic approach is needed * An understanding of code design for efficiency and readability * Commitment to writing tests as a definition of done
