Ciklum is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:
Your role will be pivotal in fostering communication and collaboration. You will work closely with product owners and cross-functional engineering teams. Together, you will redesign and migrate business-critical customer support components, enhance existing workflows, consolidate existing components and develop robust and scalable backend solutions that serve our extensive customer base.
Responsibilities: As a Senior Software Engineer in the Help Interfaces team, you will: * Play a vital role in collaborating with multiple development teams to implement, consolidate and maintain customer support backend components * Configure and implement observability best practices by setting up proper logging, metrics, and alerting using Datadog * Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, covering testing, packaging, and deployment * Configure and deploy services on Kubernetes clusters running in AWS (EKS), including Helm chart creation and updates * Write and maintain comprehensive automated tests to ensure correctness and reliability of services * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and quality assurance, to deliver high-quality software solutions * Contribute to ADR (Architecture Decision Records) and technical discussions, helping shape future design and migration strategies * Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends to contribute to the team’s continuous improvement * Work within the Agile framework (SCRUM or Kanban) with sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Requirements: * Strong background in Java, with experience maintaining or refactoring backend services * Experience with Kafka and event-driven systems * Proficiency in AWS cloud services, particularly Kubernetes/EKS * Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions) * Strong knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies * Familiarity with Helm for Kubernetes deployments * Experience designing, building, and maintaining backend services in microservice architectures * Strong problem-solving and debugging skills * Excellent teamwork and communication skills * Familiarity with Agile processes and team structure * Strong attention to detail and understanding of when a pragmatic approach is needed * Commitment to writing tests as a definition of done
Desirable: * Prior experience with service migrations and software consolidation projects * Familiarity with observability/logging pipelines at scale * Ability to design and build software that is secure, stable, scalable, and reliable * A mindset of moving fast with confidence * Focus on trust, transparency, and building resilient platforms
