We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer — Data Platform expert to join a British company that works on cutting-edge Regulatory Technology (RegTech) solutions, providing independent regulatory intelligence for highly regulated industries such as payments, financial services, and gambling across 180+ jurisdictions worldwide.
Our client develops advanced data-driven platforms that help global brands stay ahead of regulatory change, mitigate risk, and unlock new opportunities. About the Role This is a systems engineering position, not an AI research role. The successful candidate will design, build, and own production-grade data ingestion and enrichment systems that power regulatory intelligence workflows across the platform.
You will take ownership of Python services responsible for regulatory data ingestion, transformation, enrichment, and internal operational tooling. The role requires strong engineering discipline with a focus on reliability, structure, security, and operational impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect and build Python services and ETL pipelines
Design data transformation layers from raw source to structured output
Implement schema validation and data integrity checks
Integrate LLM services with proper retry, monitoring and guardrails
Build APIs that expose structured data to Drupal and Node applications
Improve determinism and predictability of enrichment workflows
Optimise performance, throughput and cost
Contribute to internal tools that improve operational efficiency
Contribute to integration layers within Drupal where necessary
Apply secure coding practices aligned to our ISO 27001 controls
Use AI tools effectively in your own engineering workflow to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
What You’ll Bring (required skills):
Technical Skills * Strong Python experience building production systems * Experience designing ETL or data processing pipelines * Strong understanding of data modelling and schema design * Experience integrating external APIs * Familiarity with LLM based systems * Experience working with relational databases * Experience exposing or consuming REST APIs * FastAPI or similar async Python api framework * Pydantic or equivalent schema validation * AWS deployment experience * Testing discipline for data heavy systems * Understanding of secure coding principles and cloud security fundamentals
