Role Summary We are seeking a strong, client-facing Technical Project Manager to step into a critical delivery leadership role supporting our client. This person will replace the current project lead and become the central coordination point between executive stakeholders, engineering teams, product/business stakeholders, and external delivery partners.
This is not a generic PM role. The ideal candidate must be technically fluent, highly structured, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations must be actively managed.
The role is designed for someone who can: * bring order and predictability to a multi-team delivery environment, * translate technical discussions into clear plans and decisions, * maintain strong communication with leadership, * and ensure that engineering execution remains aligned to business needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesDelivery Ownership * Own day-to-day delivery coordination across active product and engineering workstreams. * Build and maintain integrated project plans, milestone trackers, dependency maps, RAID logs, and status reporting. * Run structured delivery cadences including standups, sprint reviews, planning sessions, and stakeholder check-ins. * Track action items, ensure accountability, and drive timely follow-through across teams. * Surface delivery risks early and push for decisions before they become blockers.
Technical Project Coordination * Coordinate across engineering, QA, product, infrastructure, and external vendors/partners. * Translate technical conversations into clear next steps, owners, and dates. * Keep delivery plans aligned with architecture realities and team capacity. * Work closely with architects and engineering leads to ensure requirements, sequencing, and delivery scope are realistic. * Support release planning, demo readiness, and execution against agreed milestones.
Executive & Stakeholder Communication * Serve as a reliable operational interface between technical teams and executive stakeholders. * Prepare clean, concise, and executive-ready project updates. * Maintain clear communication on scope, status, risks, dependencies, and decisions. * Help leadership quickly understand what is on track, what is at risk, and what requires intervention. * Ensure meetings end with clear owners, decisions, and next actions.
Governance & Operational Discipline * Introduce structure where delivery is unclear, inconsistent, or slipping. * Maintain a decision log, risk register, and change tracking across the engagement. * Improve visibility into execution without creating unnecessary process overhead. * Support stronger discipline around backlog hygiene, acceptance criteria, release readiness, and cross-team coordination. * Help establish a more predictable operating rhythm for ongoing delivery.
Required Experience * 5+ years of experience in technical project management, technical program management, or a similar delivery leadership role. * Proven success managing software or platform delivery across cross-functional teams. * Experience working closely with technical stakeholders including architects, engineers, QA, DevOps, and product owners. * Strong command of Agile delivery practices, sprint cadence management, and dependency tracking. * Ability to create order in environments where requirements, roles, or priorities may not always be fully defined. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially with senior stakeholders.
Strongly Preferred * Experience in education technology, platform modernization, or complex custom software environments. * Experience in delivery stabilization, turnaround, or “rescue” situations. * Comfort operating in politically sensitive or high-visibility stakeholder environments. * Ability to work effectively with both highly technical teams and non-technical leadership. * Experience supporting distributed or offshore engineering teams.
Technical Literacy Expected This role does not need to be the chief architect, but the candidate must be technically credible and able to manage delivery around: * Web and platform-based application delivery * APIs, integrations, and multi-system dependencies * Frontend/backend coordination * QA, defect triage, and release readiness * Infrastructure/environment dependencies * Technical tradeoffs that affect roadmap timing and execution risk
