Pushka Studios is a group of people who love games.
We act with ownership to create the result we can take pride in. We set big goals and high expectations, we think forward and accept opportunities to achieve success. We believe that the best results come from people who can think outside the box.
We are looking for a game designer to help build single-player/co-op mid-scope games focused on a strong core idea and a few polished mechanics. Think Factorio, Valheim, Medieval Dynasty, Dredge, or Supermarket Simulator.
You should understand what makes these games engaging: gameplay loops, system interactions, and fast iteration. The role focuses on prototyping, owning standalone features, and supporting development through design docs, implementation, and iteration
Main responsibilities: * Engine-side (Unity / Unreal): * Prototype and work with existing gameplay tools/mechanics/content using Unity and Unreal. * Review delivered features and mechanics, ensuring they match the design intent. * Documentation-side: * Break down reference games and mechanics into clear, actionable design documents. Maintain documentation daily. * Create concise feature briefs, flows, and system explanations for the team. * Collect, analyze, and interpret playtests feedbacks and gameplay metrics to guide design iterations. * Guide the features development. Based on design documentation, create Jira tasks for the team.
Required skills: * Experience with version control (Git, Perforce). * Practical experience with Unity or Unreal. * Experience designing and balancing gameplay systems, progressions. * Ability to break down reference games, analyze mechanics, and reason about pacing and player motivation. * Comfortable working with spreadsheets, gameplay metrics, and data analysis. * Running or analyzing playtests, preparing feedback summaries. * Intermediate English — enough to read and write documentation, research references, and communicate within the team.
Will be an advantage: * Experience with rapid prototyping. * Knowledge of UI/UX basics and ability to make simple mockups in Miro/Figma. * Skills in level design or simple narrative structuring. * Participation in full-cycle game development or shipped features.
We offer: * Remote or flexible working format; * Opportunity to work from a cozy office in Dnipro, Ukraine; * Competitive compensation with performance-based bonuses; * Opportunity to work with international clients and exciting projects; * Friendly, professional, and supportive team; * Growth opportunities within the company; * Long-term employment; * Paid vacation and sick days; * Full accounting support.
