The role of a Senior SAP ABAP Developer focuses on sustaining legacy SAP ECC environments while integrating them with modern e-invoicing and tax reporting infrastructures. This role is critical as MEA and MEU countries transition to “continuous transaction controls” (CTC).
You will lead the technical adaptation of the SAP ECC landscape to meet evolving government regulations. A core part of this role involves utilizing EDICOM as a middleware powerhouse to bridge the gap between internal ERP data and strict Government Portals. This role is critical for ensuring that finance and logistics processes remain compliant with local tax, trade, and reporting laws while maintaining cross-functional integration.
This is you: * 10+ years as ABAP Lead Consultant with at least three full-cycle implementations involving complex tax localization. * Deep expertise in creating and maintaining IDocs, RFCs, and BAPIs to facilitate data transfer between SAP ECC and the EDICOM Global E-Invoicing Platform. * Proficiency in BAdIs, BTEs (Business Transaction Events), and User Exits to capture and validate tax-relevant data during the invoice creation process without modifying standard SAP code. * Ability to create custom tables and views for local legal requirements (e.g., storing government-issued UUIDs or QR code data) and mapping these to XML (UBL 2.1) or JSON formats used by government portals. * Experience with Adobe Forms or SmartForms to generate human-readable PDF/A-3 invoices that include mandatory digital signatures and QR codes. * Expert-level understanding of EU VAT directives and national electronic reporting standards (e.g., XRechnung, KSeF). * Experience with ZATCA (Saudi Arabia) Phase 2 and the UAE’s upcoming E-Invoicing System (EES). * Professional fluency in English; ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional global teams and stakeholders and act as a bridge between Tax/Legal departments and IT technical teams. * Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Finance and controlling, or Business Administration.
Nice-to-have skills: * SAP Certification in ECC or S/4HANA ABAP is a strong plus. * Specialized certifications in SAP Tax Compliance or DRC are highly preferred.
This is your role: * Legacy Compliance Management: Develop and maintain complex RICEFW objects in SAP ECC to extract tax-relevant data for new mandates. * Configure and optimize IDoc or RFC interfaces between SAP ECC and the EDICOM Global E-Invoicing Platform. This includes mapping internal data to EDICOM’s canonical XML formats. * Ensure seamless data transmission to national portals (e.g., UAE’s Peppol-based framework, Oman’s Fawtara, and various EU tax authority APIs). * Implement technical solutions for the UAE E-Invoicing pilot (mid-2026) and full mandatory rollout (2027). * Manage ongoing B2B e-invoicing requirements and real-time VAT reporting updates across the EU region. * Deploy and manage complex integrations with local systems and external government portals via EDI/IDoc. * Support the end-to-end testing phases (Unit, Integration, and UAT) to ensure compliance with legal and system standards via INT4 and Tricentis Tosca platforms. * Support data migration of master data and open transactions, ensuring integrity and adherence to audit trails.
