About the role: We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and scale the API infrastructure powering Chowdeck’s ecosystem — including customer, vendor, and rider applications.
You’ll work on high-load, real-time systems and collaborate closely with product, frontend, and design teams to deliver fast, reliable features in a dynamic startup environment.
Main responsibilities: * Design, build, and maintain backend APIs and services * Debug and resolve production issues across services * Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability * Collaborate with Product, Frontend, and UX teams * Contribute to architecture decisions and technical improvements * Identify and reduce technical debt (standards, tooling, processes)
Your experience: * 6+ years of backend development experience * Strong knowledge of Node.js, JavaScript, MySQL * Experience with Redis and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) * Experience building scalable, high-load systems * Strong focus on clean, maintainable, and testable code * Good problem-solving skills and product thinking * Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Bonus: * Experience with high-availability systems or distributed architecture * Previous experience in fast-growing startups * Mentoring or tech leadership exposure
